Water & Sewer
The City of Marion's Water, Sewer & Sanitation bills are mailed by the 1st of each month. Payment is due by the 15th of each month.
The bills are for services received the previous month (i.e., January's bill is for use from November 15th to December 15th). Charges are based on actual water consumption and the number of green roll-out carts at the residence. If your payment is not received by the 25th, a $25 late charge will be added to your account. Cut-offs begin the first business morning following the 25th.
We have a drop box for water payments on the library side of City Hall. Payments put in there after 5 p.m. on the 25th WILL be subject to the $25 late charge.
Any unpaid balance will be submitted to the South Carolina Department of Revenue for collection.
Water bills can be put on bank draft for the customer's convenience. An application can be obtained at City Hall.
There is a $25 charge for any returned check or draft.
The City is not responsible for misdirected mail. If you do not receive a bill, it is your responsibility to contact City Hall (423-5961) for the amount of your bill.

New Water Service
A Service Contract must be completed at City Hall. To start service, a deposit ($50 for residential customers and $100 for commercial customers) and a $25 service charge must be paid at that time. You must bring in your Drivers License or S.C. ID card and your Social Security card to set up service. Additionally, if you rent, you will need to show us the security deposit receipt from the property owner.
Someone must be in the residence or business when the City employee comes to turn the water on. Water will not be left on if no one is there. New service requests are taken Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As of Aug. 28, 2009, the following water and sewer rates are in place.
WATER: For the first 2,500 gallons of water usage, the cost is $13.50 for in-town residential or commercial customers; $14 for in-town industrial customers; $27 for out-of-town residential or commercial customers; and $28 for out-of-town industrial customers.
Each additional 1,000 gallons of water used incurs a cost of $2.15 for in-town residential or commercial customers; $2.15 for in-town industrial customers; $4.30 for out-of-town residential or commercial customers; and $4.30 for out-of-town industrial customer.
WASTEWATER: For the first 2,500 gallons of wastewater flow, the cost is $17 for in-town residential or commercial customers; $17 for in-town industrial customers; $34 for out-of-town residential or commercial customers; and $35 for out-of-town industrial customers.
Each additional 1,000 gallons of wastewater flow incurs a cost of $3 for in-town residential or commercial customers; $3 for in-town industrial customers; $5 for out-of-town residential or commercial customers; and $3.90 for out-of-town industrial customer.
Transfer Fee:
If you move to a new location, you must complete a work order at City Hall to discontinue service at your former residence and pay a $25 transfer fee to start service at your new residence.
Your deposit will transfer to your new residence. If you have a balance on your former account, this must be paid in full before your new service can begin.
