The City of Marion is committed to providing affordable, quality benefits to meet the needs of our employees and their families. We offer an excellent benefits package which includes SC State Retirement and employer paid health insurance.
Insurance
The City of Marion offers to eligible employees a group insurance programs that provides health, life, and disability coverage. The City currently provides medical, dental, and limited life insurance at no cost to the employee. An employee covered under the provisions of the group insurance program can enroll in voluntary vision, disability, cancer, accident, and/or supplemental life policies through payroll deductions.
SC Retirement System

Holidays
The following days are observed as holidays for regular full-time employees whose work does not require their being on duty: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the Day after Christmas.
Employee Safety and Wellness
The City of Marion has a sincere concern for the safety and health of its employees and the public it serves, with the goal of eliminating the suffering and cost of avoidable injuries and accidents. We place safe operations above operational expediency and comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and other safety laws. The Safety and Wellness Committee organizes and coordinates safety programs and training classes and sponsors a Fall Health Fair for all City employees.
